Wyoming White Pages
Database Information
Wyoming is a state that can be found in the western portion of
the U.S.
While a large portion of the east is comprised of the Great
Plains, the western portion of the state is mountainous. Wyoming has the lowest population of any state in the U.S. A number
of studies from 2006 indicate that Wyoming
has a population of just over 500,000. The largest city in the state is Cheyenne, and this is
also the capital. Despite its small population, Wyoming
is one of the largest states in the western United States. The states which
border Wyoming are Utah,
Colorado, Nebraska,
South Dakota, Montana,
and Idaho. Wyoming is a landlocked
state, and is surrounded on all sides. It is the 44th state to be added to the Union, and it was admitted in July of 1890. Wyoming is famous for its national parks, and the most
popular is YellowstoneNational Park.
The climate in Wyoming
is quite dry and cool. The winters can become extremely cold, but the summers
are fairly mild. The GSP for Wyoming
was $27 billion in 2005. Despite the small population, the employment rate is
less than 4%, which is much smaller than the United States as a whole. The
economy of Wyoming
is very unique. The extraction of minerals is one of the most important
industries, and this is only rivaled by tourism. The U.S. government owns about 50
percent of the state, while only a small percentage of the land is actually
owned by the state. While mining brings in about $6 billion annually, tourism
brings in close to $2 billion. Millions of people visit the national parks each
year.
